What Jesus’ resurrection means for our daily lives

How does Christ’s resurrection factor in our daily lives?

How does Christ’s resurrection affect our daily lives?

“It is not more surprising to be born twice than once; everything in nature is resurrection.” ― Voltaire

Today is Easter Sunday and this day marks the commemoration of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, three days after dying on the cross to redeem us from our sins.  This is also the day when He proved once and for all that He was indeed the Son of God.

But what does the resurrection stand for?  How does it factor in our daily lives?

Well, there are many ways to answer this question.  For one it should be the foundation of our faith.  That faith that leads us to do good and to follow all of God’s teachings.  That faith that keeps us believing that everything’s going to be alright and that God won’t let us go astray.

The resurrection also stands for forgiveness.  When Jesus rose from the dead, one of the most crucial, if not the most crucial things it accomplished was to deliver us from our sins.  This did not spare anyone.  Even those who have wronged the Son of God were forgiven by Jesus’ selfless act of dying on the cross.

Resurrection also symbolizes hope.  In Christ’s darkest hours when he was being tortured, spat on, scourged and punished, anyone would have given up hope.  With all the violence and the wrong-doing they’ve put Jesus through, one would have never expected something good to come out of the situation but the resurrection shattered all the doubts and fear that the people close to Jesus felt.  As should we.

The resurrection can affect our lives in so many ways and here are some of them:

Resurrect our relationships

There may be people or friends we’ve had differences with in the past that we haven’t connected with for the longest time but it’s never too late to bury the hatchet.  Don’t let pride get in the way of resurrecting relationships we thought were already dead.  There is nothing impossible when it comes to God.  Relationships don’t die.  They just become dormant for some time but once we find forgiveness in our hearts, they shall live again.

Resurrect our enthusiasm

We may not be happy where we are right now in terms of our finances, our jobs, or our lives as a whole but just like Jesus did, we can always restore lost enthusiasm.  Many of us will say that we are not happy with our jobs anymore or the hobby we used to love doing everyday but I don’t believe that’s a lost cause.  People get tired or lose interest but there will always be ways to resurrect our enthusiasm.  We just have to keep an open mind just like the apostles did when they learned that Christ has risen.

Resurrect our happiness

When one goes through difficult experiences like losing a loved one or separating from a spouse, people tend to lose happiness.  We’ve all been through these trying times but we’ve all managed to get our happiness back.  We may go through darkness for a long time but happiness can be resurrected if we choose to.

I never thought my family and I will recover from the tragedy we’ve all gone through when my in-laws were murdered inside their home.  We grieved for a long time and continue to grieve each and everyday of our lives but somehow as time goes by, we were all able to live with the pain.  I never thought we will all be happy again but life goes on.  I learned that even if you’re in pain, you can still be happy if you let yourself be.

Resurrect our faith

People who have gone through the worst in life, people who lost their way or those who have gone through the lowest points in their lives will attest that even if you lost faith at some point in your life, that it is not impossible to regain it.

I was watching the WWE Hall of Fame Induction ceremony where one of the inductees, Jake “The Snake” Roberts, spoke about how he abused drugs and alcohol to the point where he asked God to take him because he was not just an addict but he was unemployed too.  He was the perfect example of celebrities whose success have gone through their heads and forgot God in the process.

He is now sober for more than a year and has lost more than a hundred pounds and his induction into wrestling’s most elite hall of fame is just proof that there is always a happy ending if you choose to have one.

Christ’s resurrection sends a very powerful message to each and everyone of us but it should not end there.  We should all incorporate the meaning of resurrection in our daily lives through faith, hope, and forgiveness.

What steps are you taking to incorporate the message of Jesus’ resurrection in your life?

Interesting article Noel, I believe that we can change anything in our lives if we choose to do so. I like that you have brought this subject into our everyday lives, and it is a lesson that what we choose is what we achieve when we back it with our faith.
