Learn to See the Good

Learning to see the good

With all the negative things happening around us, we all need to learn to see the good in everything.

We all go through trials in life once in a while. We get buried in debt, lose our jobs, lose someone we love, or suffer a broken heart. In such situations, it is normal to feel stressed, disappointed, and depressed. We all need time to grieve, to heal, to recover from the situation we’ve gone through.

Unfortunately, some of us can’t handle depression properly. As we all know, long periods of depression can lead to alcoholism, drug use, or worse, death. So what is the proper way to deal with failure?  How do we go through such difficulties without losing ourselves?  What is the proper way to cope with our problems?

I’ve been through a tough situation myself recently and though I did go through a moment of depression, I was lucky to recover immediately. I did it by immersing myself in all things positive.  I read motivational books and listened to motivational podcasts. I stopped watching shows that exudes negativity.  I tried to see the good in everything, even with the negative events experienced

These small actions gave me a whole new perspective. Suddenly, I am able to appreciate the little things that I used to take for granted. I learned to see the good in everything whether good or bad. How things turn out all depends on us and us alone. If you’re depressed and you choose to dwell on your depression, it will not get you anywhere.

Going through hard times made me a better person and it made me carry out something I’ve meant to do for the longest time and that is to start this blog that you’re reading now.  This negative circumstance I went through was a blessing instead.

God puts us in difficult situations not to punish us but to make us tough and prepare us for the tougher situations that lie ahead. Trials are meant to make us better and not to destroy us.

If you hate your job and you wanted to move to a new company but somehow you can’t, that’s alright.  God probably put you in that place to make you tougher and stronger.  If you failed your exams, maybe it’s a wake-up call for you to start going straight and take your studies seriously.  If you’re buried in debt, it’s probably God’s way of reminding you that you should be handling your finances carefully and not spend money that isn’t yours.

Whatever your situation may be, learn to see the good in everything.  Learn to see the positive out of a negative predicament.
