How do you overcome adversity?

When a friend goes through difficulties, we often tell them that “it’s going to be alright” or “just stay positive” maybe to comfort them or give them hope but do we really apply our advice when the tables are turned?

It’s not easy to overcome adversity because sometimes it can be too painful and shattering that we find it difficult to shake it off.  It makes us bitter and miserable making the process of moving forward much more difficult than we thought it would be.

You start to blame others, you wallow in self-defeat and bask in bitterness too long that you waste precious time you should be spending coming up with solutions to the problems you’re going through.  You’re not going to come out of your predicament by crying in one corner and wishing you could have done otherwise.

It’s not as bad as it seems my friend.  Life is not always about winning.  It is important to be able to accept defeat graciously though because that’s where growth happens.  It happens when you overcome adversity and learn from the experience!

    Adversity is part of life but to avoid or resist it will only make it persist. Everywhere we look in the world there is unmistakable struggle. There are floods, tsunamis, wars, and calamities of all types. Even within our own circle of family and friends there is death, loss and tragedy. Although pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.

    Before adversity hits, we need to work on cultivating emotional strength, courage and discipline. When we make ourself aware that certain difficulties are inevitable, we can prepare ourself mentally for confronting adversity head on. It would be no different than a warrior going to battle. He or she prepares himself physically and mentally for any possibility. There are many inspiring stories of people who overcame seemingly insurmountable odds. They triumphed over their adversities to live successful, productive lives instead of surrendering to it. Eventually, thanks for sharing this interesting piece with us.

      Adversity will always be a part of life so the best thing we can do is to be prepared by making ourselves emotionally and mentally tough through personal development and through the inspiring stories of people who have overcome great odds to become successful.

      It’s all about having the right mindset. Things will only be insurmountable if you tell yourself it is.
