You Are More Than Enough

You are more than enough. You just don’t know it yet.

“The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease for ever to be able to do it.”

― J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan

More than Enough!

I’ve had several failures in my life that I’m not really proud of and I’d be lying to you if I told you that I never lost faith in myself because I HAD and it has happened more than I could remember.

It’s natural to feel bad when you get rejected or when you fail at something.  There will always be those dark days when you feel lost and stuck and you feel like you’re the biggest loser to ever come out of God’s green earth.  This is especially true when you’re on a losing streak or when you can’t seem to do anything right but to fail.

I’ve had episodes like these and looking back, I would say that I’ve come a long way and that personal development has helped me turn my life around in more ways than I could ever imagine which is why I’m on a mission to help people who are going through a similar situation turn their lives around just like I did.

While it is natural to feel bad, sometimes we’re just too hard on ourselves to the point where we are already telling ourselves how big a failure we are and how stupid we were in terms of the decisions we’ve made in our lives that lead to where we are today.

Just when you think you’re never good enough, I’ll be the first to tell you that dude, you are absolutely wrong!  YOU ARE MORE THAN ENOUGH and I’m not saying this to cheer you up or lift your spirits.  I’m just stating a fact but it will take a shift in mindset for this to be true.

Forget the past and look forward

Ben is a client of mine who is also an aspiring photographer.  He loves to shoot pictures and I can honestly say that he has the talent and the eye for a good photo.  His dream is to become a professional photographer and to travel the world while teaching photography while spending more time with his family.

The problem with Ben though is that his self-doubt seems to be bigger than his ambition.  Like me, he’s gone through several failures and these setbacks seems to have shattered his confidence enough for him to be convinced that he can never make any of his goals a reality.

We’ve all been like Ben at one point.  Don’t deny it!

We’ve all told ourselves that we’re not good enough but that would only be true if that’s your reality.  So you failed, so you did not get the job, so your business failed, what now?  Are you going to just mope around or cry in one corner and continuously tell yourself that you’re never going to win in life?

Instead of wallowing in self-pity, why not use your energy more productively by looking for ways to get back up? Leave the past behind and look forward to what you can do to make tomorrow better for you and your family. Figure out your WHY and set your goals towards it.  Let your WHY motivate you to come out of the pity party and prove yourself wrong.  If I can do it and Ben can do it, so can you.

People’s opinions won’t make your dreams come true

Another client of mine, let’s just call him Johnny, loves what he do.  The problem is, he does not feel appreciated by his superiors even though his customers appreciate what he does.  He doesn’t feel good enough as well and he was really down and on the brink of giving up when I met him.

Sometimes we value other people’s opinions so much that we let it define us and let it dictate the course our lives will take.  We rely on people’s approval so much that we wake up one day and realize that we’re living other people’s dreams instead of our own.

What’s important is your opinion of yourself.  Your self-worth.  You can’t expect people to believe in you if you don’t believe in yourself.  You have to be your own biggest fan if you want people to become fans.

What other people think of you is not important.  What’s important is what you think about yourself because like it or not, people will always have something to say and not everyone will like you.  You have to get used to that fact. Remember that what people think about you is none of your business.

Do what you love or whatever it is that makes you happy.  So what if they call you weird?  So what if they find you eccentric?  As long as you’re not hurting anyone, you’re good to go!  Their opinions won’t put food on your table. Their judgment won’t make your dreams come true.  Don’t believe them when they say that you’re not good enough because you are more than enough and you’re gonna prove them all wrong!

Overcome your fear

I’m probably one of the biggest procrastinators in history.  I’m not kidding and even now that I am a coach and an author, I still procrastinate a lot and I can’t deny that it’s one of my Achilles heels.  Procrastination has all been a problem of ours.

From you plan to launch a singing career to marrying the girl of your dreams, we’ve all felt fear.  What if she doesn’t like me?  What if I don’t pass the audition?  What if I don’t get the job?  There’s about a thousand what if’s you can come up with but there’s one what if you’re missing.

Oh yeah, got you didn’t I?  You’re probably scratching your head and telling yourself, “hmm, this guy makes sense!”

You won’t know if you don’t try my friend and I don’t want you to look back five or ten years from now saying “What if I did it?”

Failure is a part of success.  We learn from each failure we experience.  It makes us stronger and overall a better person than we were before it so stop being a chicken and do what you think will make you happy and fulfilled. Life has no limit for the number of failures you can commit.  There’s no “three strikes and you’re out” rule in life which makes it more exciting!

    Hey Noel,

Fear comes in many shapes and sizes. Facing it doesn’t have to be a grand gesture. While achieving our goal may not happen on our preferred timetable, it is important to have faith that time will bring success. Trusting that achievement is not only possible, but probable will help soften our fears.

We need to think back to an event in our life that may have seemed bad at the time, but allowed for certain circumstances to occur that brought about a greater and more wonderful event. That’s proof that the world is not against us, but is indeed working with us. Eventually, thanks for sharing your interesting experience with us.

    With best wishes,

    Amar kumar
